It is possible to pack other document formats with Project Packer, but there is no protection available for those files.

Virtual Zone (Copy Protection) is not available.

Lock to Storage Medium is available but once the file is open on a computer, the document is not protected anymore!

Example for a Word, docx file

IMPORTANT: From Project Packer version 4.00.12, protection for Word (doc/docx) files is available if Microsoft Office is installed during the Project Packer Build operation!

Follow these steps to protect a Word, docx document. You can use the Project_Packer_Workshop files to exercise the procedure!

Start Project Packer.  You will see this screen:

Click on the button add file(s), you will see a dialog-box, where you can select the DOCX-file.

Select 1 DOCX-file. You will see the file with full path in the file-list:

Don't change these options!  The correct options are:

oRestore to: Current Directory

oRun selected File enabled

oExtract Files in Virtual Zone is disabled, because it is unavailable!

If you need Copy Protection, you must enable Lock to Storage Medium.  When you enable this option, you must save your project on your destination medium (HD, USB-stick, optical disk)! WARNING: this option is available but once the file is open on a computer, the document is not protected anymore!

Click on the selected DOCX file to mark it as 'run file'.

Click on the button: Build Archive. You can select the destination medium and the type of archive you like: PPA (Project Packer Archive file) or EXE (standalone EXE file). You will see this dialog if the operation was successful:

Click on the OK button

Now, you have a package with your Word document.  This Word document opens automatically:
